You guys…

Yesterday, I was busy working away in the morning on my computer when a window popped up, saying that I had a virus on my computer and I needed to purchase this anti-virus software. I started using a new computer in January, and stupid me, didn’t even think of virus protection.

So the window popped up, I got worried, but didn’t have any time to deal with it, so I just shut down my computer. I got back on last night, thinking I would just purchase and download some antivirus software, and all would be well.

I was wrong.

Come to find out, the window that popped up saying I needed to purchase their antivirus software because my computer was infected? Well, that was a virus. And it made it so that I couldn’t open anything on my computer. These virus people are smart. They make you think you have a big, bad virus, so you enter your credit card info for their software, but all they are really after is your credit card number and personal information. Pretty sneaky.

Good thing I didn’t fall for it.

I’m not a techie person when it comes to computers, but I was finally (after a couple of hours) able to remove all of the virus. Good thing – the virus is gone. Bad thing – my computer is still messed up. I can’t open most of the programs and can’t figure out how to fix it.

So, I don’t have a recipe. Because I can’t get to it. And I can’t share with you my favorite links from last week. But I didn’t want to leave you hanging with the linkup.

So please still link up this week. I love to see everything you’ve been making. And cross your fingers that I’m able to get everything figured out so that I can post again tomorrow!!

The rules for the link up are simple:

1 – you can link up to any recipe
2 – link must be to a blog post – no etsy stores or advertisements
3 – please add a link in your post back to this post
4 – you can link up as many times as you want – go crazy!

Don’t forget to click over on some of the other links so that we can all enjoy each other’s creations!!

And I’d love to have you follow me via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Google+. And don’t forget to subscribe to my weekly newsletter!

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you’ll be able to solve the problem.

  2. I am SO sorry to hear about your computer troubles. They are the worst! So frustrating and defeating. I am glad your computer is okay, and I hope you can get to your files and programs soon… Sending you some good luck vibes so it can be fixed soon! And for selfish reasons…since I can’t wait to see what recipes are coming next. 🙂

  3. So sorry to hear about the drama! The same thing happened to me with a virus software issue about 5 yrs ago – right before I gave up PCs and went to Macs. I was going to update, didn’t, got infected, tons of drama ensued. So sorry and not what you needed!

  4. Deborah,
I’m sorry you’re having computer woes. That’s one of the worries for me when my spouse deploys–he’s my in-house tech guy, so I’m on my own if something goes wrong! Luckily he grew up a Mac guy, so we don’t even have PCs and viruses are a rare occurrence. Doesn’t take away my fear that something will crash and I’ll be unable to deal with it, though! Good on you for figuring things out!

I’ve linked up a recipe showing how I feed my family from the farm share all year long, this time using my freezer stash of zucchini and corn to make enchiladas. I’ve also discovered my favorite use for leftover bread in the winter–panade. Lastly, a pizza perfect for St Patty’s day–it’s got cabbage, potatoes, leeks, caramelized onions, and bacon all on a spinach crust. What’s not to love?

    Thanks for hosting!

  5. ugh! Computer issues are the worst, esp for someone like me who is so not computer savvy. I hope you get it worked out without it costing a fortune! I read about that same type of virus on another blog too. Thanks for hosting this week despite the drama! I think I would be buried in chocolate right about now.

  6. Sometimes technology stinks and sometimes it’s a blessing 🙂 Hope you can get your computer straightened out without too much stress. Have a great weekend!

Oh Deborah, so sorry to hear about your computer issues. What a frustrating situation! Hope you’re able to get it resolved before long.

  8. Those stinking virus people…so glad to hear you just shut your computer down without adding the program. That is not cool that the computer is still messed up though. I am not very good with that kind of thing so I would be at a complete and total loss. I hope you can get it all fixed really quickly!!

  9. That is a major bummer. I hate viruses and virus-causing-destructive people. I hope you get it fixed soon and without any major setbacks.

  10. Don’t you hate that? When will computers realize we are using them and we are in a hurry. We don’t need these kinds of problems. That will be the next best technical evolution. “til then…sounds like you did all the right things. Hope everything is back to normal soon. Thanks for working so hard in spite of all the troubles to give us an opportunity to share.

  11. so sorry to hear about the virus. Such a frustrating thing to deal with! I hope you have a restful weekend!

we had an experience like that not too long ago. they actually called to tell us that our computer had a virus on it (posing as microsoft), and if we gave them our info they could clear it for us. ugh, you feel so victimized when that happens!
