Get ready for game day with this Spicy Sausage Dip with Tomatoes – full of spice and flavor, it’s a crowd pleaser every time you serve it.

I have decided that if I ever throw a football watching party, it will be all about the dips. I love appetizers and finger foods of every kind, but there is something irresistible about a dip for me. Hot or cold, with chips or veggies, I’ll take them any way.
This year, I won’t be having any parties for the big game (#movingproblems). But that doesn’t mean that I can’t break out a new dip recipe!!
This time, I decided to go a little bit spicy. And cheesy. And creamy. Basically, all of the good things in one dip. The ingredients are basic, but they combine together to make a dip that you can’t keep your chips out of.
Since there are only a few ingredients, you need to make sure you use quality ingredients. For me, that means using Hunt’s tomatoes. Now, if you are a regular around here, you already know that I am a huge fan of Hunt’s Diced tomatoes. Tomatoes, picked at the peak of ripeness, then peeled using a process called FlashSteam™ instead of using lye*. That right there is a selling point for me. Water and steam versus chemical by-products? Yes, please! Throw in that they are 100% natural and GMO free, and you have a winning product.
Combine those tomatoes with some spicy Italian sausage, lots of cheese and a good dose of minced jalapeno. It’s not burn your mouth hot by any means, but it has a ton of flavor. And it’s perfect for football watching. Set out some corn chips or tortilla chips, and watch it disappear!
I made this on the stovetop and then baked it until it was all melty and hot, but you could easily throw this in your slow cooker as well. That’s an easy way to put it out and keep it warm, as well. But we did eat this hot and lukewarm, and it was great both ways. I may have even tried a spoonful straight out of the refrigerator.
Bring on the big game – as long as there is a big dish of this Spicy Sausage Dip with Tomatoes there, too!

Description
Get ready for game day with this Spicy Sausage Dip with Tomatoes – full of spice and flavor, it’s a crowd pleaser every time you serve it.
Ingredients
- 16–19 oz Spicy Italian Sausage
- 8 oz cream cheese, (cubed)
- 4 oz shredded Cheddar cheese
- 4 oz shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 14.5 oz can Hunt’s Diced Tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 jalapeno, (seeds and ribs removed for less heat, minced)
- fresh cilantro and sliced jalapenos
- corn chips or tortilla chips, (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the sausage. Cook until the sausage is browned and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks. Once the sausage is cooked through, add the cream cheese and stir until melted and combined. Add the cheddar and mozzarella, reserving some for topping the dip. Stir in the Hunt’s Diced Tomatoes, sour cream, and jalapeño.
- Pour the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved cheese over the top. Place in the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and the dip is bubbling on the edges, about 20 minutes.
- Top with sliced jalapeños and cilantro, and serve warm with corn chips or tortilla chips.
