One of my favorite things about slaw is how versatile it is. Serve it up as a side dish. Top your pulled pork sandwich with it. Add it as a topping for tacos. You really can get away with adding it to so many things!
This Cilantro Lime Slaw is a simple slaw recipe that only takes a few ingredients and a few minutes to throw together. I love it so much that I will literally just eat it out of the bowl with a fork!
Perfect for pot lucks, family dinners, or really just about any occasion, this Cilantro Lime Slaw is always a 10!

Ingredients
- Mayonnaise: Mayo is a pretty traditional ingredient for slaws. I think the flavor is perfect for this. But you can also sub in plain Greek yogurt if you are trying to be a little healthier.
- Sour Cream: I do like to add in some sour cream for richness and flavor.
- Lime Juice: You want to use fresh lime juice. Depending on how much juice you get from your limes, you’ll need 1-2 limes.
- Honey: This adds just a touch of sweetness and helps to balance out all of the flavors.
- Garlic: I really like fresh garlic here. But if you are in a pinch, you can use granulated garlic. You would only need about 1/4 teaspoon.
- Lime Zest: The zest really adds so much lime flavor. Zest your lime before juicing it (it’s much easier!).
- Cabbage: I like to thinly slice a head of cabbage. You will need 16 oz, and I weigh after removing the core. 16 ounces will be about 3/4 of a regular sized head of cabbage.
- Cilantro: The more cilantro you add, the more the cilantro flavor will come through!
- Red Onion: I like to dice this fairly small so that you don’t end up with any big chunks of raw onion.

How to Make Cilantro Lime Slaw
STEP 1: In a large bowl, whisk together all of the dressing ingredients. I like to do this first so that I don’t have to get an extra bowl dirty.
STEP 2: Add the cabbage, cilantro, and red onion to the same bowl. Stir until everything is evenly coated. Taste, and add salt and pepper, as needed.

Tips and Tricks
You can serve this right away, or refrigerate it until needed. It usually lasts about a day before it will start getting soggy and too wet.
This slaw is great as is, but if you want some spice, some finely diced jalapeño is delicious. You could also add nuts, or other veggies.
If you don’t want to slice your own cabbage, you can use bagged coleslaw mix. I just use a regular cabbage, but you could also add in some purple cabbage.
