One thing my family never gets tired of is pizza. It is one of the most requested dinners at our house, and I’m not mad about it.
For the most part, though, my kids are just cheese and pepperoni lovers. So for a long time, I’d make cheese, pepperoni, and then something different – something I wanted.
But now that my kids are getting older, I’m finding them reaching for the “different” pizzas more and more!
One of the latest obsessions is this Meat Lover’s Pizza. Because you really can’t go wrong when you add 4 different meats, plus lots of cheese! And we all agree that this pizza is much better than any takeout you can get!

Ingredients
- Pizza Dough: I always use my homemade pizza dough. One batch will make 3 1-pound balls of dough. This recipe calls for a pound of pizza dough for the pizza, but I prefer a little bit thinner pizza, so I do 4 balls from that recipe and make 4 pizzas. So I’m using about 12 oz of pizza dough.
- Sauce: If I have time, I always prefer homemade pizza sauce. In a pinch, I will use jarred sauce.
- Meat: This is a meat lover’s pizza, so you’ve got to have the meat! I like using sausage, bacon, pepperoni and ham. For the sausage, I use a link of sweet Italian sausage (casing removed). And for the ham, I prefer to use some thinly sliced deli ham. If you have chunks of ham, that will work, but I like how the edges of the deli ham crisp up.
- Cheese: You need both mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. I prefer freshly grated cheese because it melts better.
- Red Pepper Flakes: This is optional, but I like to add a pinch or two to add some spice.

How to Make Meat Lover’s Pizza
STEP 1: Remove the sausage from the casing and cook in a skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Once it is cooked through, remove to a plate.
STEP 2: To the same skillet, add the bacon. Cook until crisp, then remove to the plate with the sausage.

STEP 3: Stretch or roll your pizza dough into a large circle. I make it about 12-inches in diameter. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough.
STEP 4: Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza sauce.
STEP 5: Now layer on your meats. You can do this in any order you want, but I like to add the ham last.
STEP 6: Add the parmesan cheese to the top. Sprinkle with a little bit of red pepper flakes, if desired. Bake the pizza until it is browned and the cheese is nice and melted and bubbly. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips and Tricks
You can find all of my pizza tips on my pizza dough post. There is lots of information there!
You can really pick and choose what meats you want to add. I like mine really loaded up with all four that are in the recipe card.
If you want more spice, use spicy Italian sausage instead of sweet Italian sausage.
I always bake my pizza on a pizza stone. (One of these days I’m going to try a pizza steel, though – I’ve heard great things!) You can bake it on a baking sheet, but it’s not quite the same.
