I love a good copycat recipe, and I love a good homemade salad dressing.
So of course, this copycat Olive Garden Salad Dressing is a hit!
I love that I can make it in just minutes. Plus, I know exactly what is going into it and the quality of my ingredients. No preservatives or extra ingredients that I don’t need. And to be honest, I think this tastes better than the restaurant version!
Ingredients
- Olive Oil: When choosing an olive oil, you want something that isn’t too bold, or the flavor will take over the dressing. I actually usually find olive oil too overpowering for me, so I opt for avocado oil. This is just preference, depending on what you like.
- Vinegar: I usually use just regular white vinegar, but white wine vinegar works really well, too.
- Water: This just adds some extra volume and body.
- Mayonnaise: Yes – you need mayonnaise! This will help to thicken and emulsify the dressing, and also adds a little bit of tang and creaminess.
- Parmesan: I like to use freshly grated, but you’ll want it finely grated.
- Seasonings: While some copycat recipes call for a packet of seasoning, I like to just use my own spices that I have on hand. That way we avoid any unnecessary preservatives, as well. You’ll need Italian seasoning, salt, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, and pepper. You probably have all of these on hand already!
How to Make Olive Garden Salad Dressing
STEP 1: Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
STEP 2: Process until the dressing is creamy and emulsified. Transfer to a small pitcher or jar for serving.
Tips and Tricks
I like to store this in a mason jar so that I can easily shake it up before serving. Some separation will happen as it sits.
You can whisk the dressing together instead of using a blender, but I find that it emulsifies better in the blender.
I usually try to use this within a week, but it should be good for up to 14 days. Just make sure to shake well before serving.
