This Clam Pizza with Bacon is an unexpected pizza combination. Clams are combined with smoky bacon and a creamy alfredo sauce for a pizza recipe that is perfect for seafood lovers.
Preheat the oven to 450ºF. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven before turning it on and let it preheat for at least 30 minutes.
Cut the bacon into pieces. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined plate.
Remove all of the grease from the pan except about 3 tablespoons. Sprinkle the flour over the remaining bacon grease and stir for a couple minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook, whisking, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Roll or stretch the dough out into a circle about 14”-16” in diameter. Spread the dough with the Alfredo sauce. Sprinkle the clams over the top, followed by the bacon. Top with the cheese.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted, 10-12 minutes.
Tear or mince the basil and sprinkle it over the top of the finished pizza.
Notes
*Most pizza recipes call for 1 pound of pizza dough. My pizza dough recipe makes 3 1-lb balls of dough. But I usually like a little thinner pizza, so I’ll use about 12 oz instead of 16 oz. It’s all preference, though!Nutrition information provided as an estimate only. Various brands and products can change the counts. Any nutritional information should be used as a general guide. Nutrition is calculated using 1 pound of pizza dough.
