1lbground beef
1 1/2cupsdiced onion
2-3clovesgarlic,minced or grated
24ozno salt added tomato sauce(3 8-oz cans)
14.5ozno salt added diced tomatoes
2teaspoonssugar
1teaspoondried oregano
1teaspoondried basil
1teaspoonsalt
1/2teaspoonpepper
2lbgnocchi
freshly grated parmesan cheese,for serving
shredded basil,for serving
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion and garlic and cook until the beef is cooked through, breaking up the beef as it cooks.
Add in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, sugar, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook until the gnocchi rises to the surface of the water. Remove with a slotted spoon.
Add the cooked gnocchi to the meat sauce and stir to combine. Serve topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese and shredded basil, if desired.
