Torchy’s Tacos in Austin, Texas – food trailer with amazing tacos!
You would think that I had had enough tacos. But Austin is known for it’s tacos, and I just couldn’t stop!!
One of my “must stops” while I was in Austin was Torchy’s Tacos. When I said Austin + tacos, the #1 answer I got from people was Torchy’s Tacos. So of course, I had to make room in my belly for more tacos!! 🙂
My husband and I headed over to Torchy’s for lunch one day, and although our bellies were still full from breakfast, we managed to order a couple tacos. And I had to try the queso. I’m a sucker for green chiles, and their Green Chile Queso was speaking to me.
We had a hard time deciding from the menu – everything looked amazing. And as much as I wanted to order one of everything on the menu, I knew we would make ourselves sick if we tried! (Seriously – so much amazing food in Austin. I was wishing I was a competitive eater at this point so I could fit more in!)
We were both drawn to The Democrat – Shredded beef barbacoa, fresh avocado, queso fresco, cilantro, onions and lime, topped with tomatillo salsa. Yep – it was a good choice. The beef was perfection. And everything just went together so nicely.
We also ordered the Fried Avocado Taco – hand battered fresh avocados with refried beans, topped with pico, lettuce and cheese. It also had a poblano sauce that was killer. I mean, can you really go wrong when avocados are involved – especially fried?
The queso was so good. I couldn’t stop myself from going back for more and more. It had a hot sauce on the top that made it nice and spicy when you’d get a bite with it, and I loved that little extra hit of heat.
I can totally see why Torchy’s Tacos is so popular. Amazing tacos. And the trailer was set up in a “trailer park” with a few other trailers and lots of seating. It was still as hot as could be outside, but the covered seating with fans blowing definitely helped. I will definitely be making another stop at Torchy’s Tacos next time I am in Austin!

Those were the same two tacos I ordered while I was there. So good!
