Description

So good and so tender – these Sweet and Sour Meatballs take a flavorful meatball and cover them in a perfect sweet and sour sauce for a dinner the whole family will crave.

Ingredients

Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Sweet and Sour Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, grated ginger and salt.  Form the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place on the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through, 20-30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the sugar, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce and garlic salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook until reduced and slightly thickened, 10-12 minutes.
  4. To serve, pour the sauce over the meatballs.  Serve over rice, if desired.
