A look at the Omni Hotel in Austin, TX – a great hotel in a wonderful downtown location.
I love visiting cities. I love the feeling of being at the center of the action. I love that you can walk anywhere, and that there is so much right within reach. So when I was looking for somewhere to stay for the second half of my trip to Austin, of course I started with downtown!
Right in the heart of downtown Austin lies the Omni Hotel. From the moment we walked in, I knew we would enjoy our stay. The front desk staff was awesome. They were friendly and accommodating, and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We had booked a suite, and had our choice of a city view with a balcony or an atrium view. I chose the city view, and was very happy with the choice. Supposedly the atrium view rooms are a little quieter since they don’t have the city noise, but the noise didn’t phase us at all.
The room was gorgeous. And huge. We had a small “kitchen” area with a fridge, sink and table, a sitting room, a bedroom and a huge bathroom. And access to the balcony from both the bedroom and the sitting room. We had a great view of 6th street, which was kind of fun so that we could watch all the action at night. We aren’t bar goers or party animals, :), so it was fun to be able to see everything that was happening from a distance.
The bed was heavenly (I slept so well there!) and did I mention that the bathroom was huge? Seriously – it was twice the size of my bathroom at home. Heavenly!!
The hotel has a rooftop pool, (we did go up and check it out, although we didn’t swim), a restaurant and a lounge, and a full service fitness center.
The location was perfect. We walked several places which was nice. If it wasn’t June in Austin and hotter than hot, we could have walked a lot of the time we were there.
We loved every minute of our stay at the Omni Hotel. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a downtown Austin hotel!
