Last month, I took a trip with my family to Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. We stayed in a cabin in Island Park, Idaho, and ventured to Yellowstone and many of the surrounding areas. And I’m so excited to share everything with all of you.
Up first is this little gem of a waterfall near where we stayed in Island Park. Near Ashton, Idaho is a beautiful drive – the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway. Along this road, you can access both the upper falls and lower falls of Mesa Falls.
We planned to drive down, and were worried about rain (the darn rain was present almost our whole trip!) but luckily, it all worked out.
I absolutely loved visiting this waterfall. It wasn’t the biggest one that we saw, but it was so gorgeous, so breathtaking. There are wooden walkways that are well maintained on the small walk to the falls. The walk was easy enough for my 5 year old and 3 year old, although to get to the best views, you do have to take the steps, so unless you want to carry a stroller down (and up) the stairs, I’d leave the stroller behind. (My youngest was sleeping in the stroller, so we just took turns going down to the falls.)
We also drove down to the lower falls, but because of my sleeping child, I stayed behind in the car. From what the rest of the family said, though, it’s definitely worth a stop as well.
It’s not an excursion that will take up hours, but it’s one that I would definitely recommend if you are in the area. I think it would even be worth going out of your way for!
Stay tuned for more outdoor adventures!
