A look at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios in Florida. This is a luxury resort with island theming, located right next to Universal CityWalk.
I love to travel, but haven’t done a whole lot of it in the last few years since I started having kids. 3 kids in the last 4 years meant that I was pretty much pregnant or nursing for those last 4 years. So when the opportunity arises to travel with my kids, you know I’m going to take it!!
Back in August, I was able to travel to Florida for the Family Forward Conference. Since it was a family conference, the whole family planned on going, but then my husband had some problems with getting away from work, so luckily, my mom was able to step in. But even without my husband there, we had such a great time.
The conference was held at Universal Studios Orlando, as well as at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. From the moment we drove up to the resort, I knew that I was going to enjoy my stay there!!
Decorated with a Polynesian/island theme, the hotel was welcoming from first glance. The receptionist was beyond helpful. We arrived before the official check in time, but he was able to check us in, give me room keys, and then they text or call you when your room is ready and let you know what room number it is. They told us we were welcome to go swimming while we waited if we wanted. (Unfortunately, because of the weather, the pool closed, so we went for a drive to find a store for some necessities while we waited for the room.)
While walking around to get a feel for the resort, we checked out the pool area, which was quite large and had a kiddie pool area with a very shallow pool for kids. Our trip was packed full of events, so there wasn’t a whole lot of time for swimming, but my mom did manage to take the kids down to the pool for a bit one day.
There are also several restaurants on site. We ate at the Bula Bar and Grille (which was located outside by the pool) and enjoyed our food. There was even a mama and baby duck that wandered around by the pool as we ate – my kids loved looking for and talking to the ducks! I am dying to go back with my husband so that we can go to Emeril’s Tchoup Chop. We ate at one of Emeril’s restaurants in Vegas a few years ago and loved it, so I would love to try this restaurant one day.
The resort is located on-site at Universal Studios Orlando, so you can either take a short walk that will take you right to the park, or there is a water taxi that take you if you don’t want to take the walk. We took the taxi a few times when the timing was right and we didn’t have to wait long, but overall, we didn’t mind the walk at all.
The room was decorated perfectly for the theme of the resort. While the rooms weren’t huge, they were big enough for two beds, plus room for a crib and a pack and play. And the beds were extremely comfortable!
And the view!! We had a wonderful view from the window in our room. When you looked out, there was so much green, and then you could see the park as well. If you listened for it, you could hear the roller coasters, which was kind of fun!!
There are also some perks for staying at the resort – like early admission to the park (which comes in really handy for busy attractions like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter), character dining, and my favorite – the Universal Express that lets you skip the long lines at the attractions.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. In fact, I would love to go back one day with my husband. There was so much that we weren’t able to do or see. I can’t wait to experience it all over again!!

**We stayed at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort as part of the Family Forward Conference. My trip to the conference was sponsored by Kroger, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to spend time with my family. A huge thanks goes out to Mom it Forward, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Universal Orlando and Kroger for making this such a memorable trip!**
