My husband and I don’t go out to eat a lot.
It’s not that we don’t like to. In fact, it’s one of our favorite date night things to do. Before we had kids, one of our favorite things to do would be to take a trip down to Vegas – mostly just to go out and try a new restaurant. But with jobs and kids and responsibilities and, well, life, it doesn’t happen nearly enough. But now I am extra grateful when it does, and we make sure to live it up!
On our night away to Salt Lake, we decided that we had to eat at Bambara. It is located at the hotel we were staying at, after all. And let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint.
Earlier that day, before dinner service started, I went down and snapped a few photos. The decor and vibe of the restaurant matches Hotel Monaco very well. I could tell just by the look of the restaurant that we would enjoy our dinner! I loved that the kitchen was open – pretty much right there in the middle of the restaurant. No hiding what was going on in there!
The building used to be a bank, so the decor reflects that history along with contemporary touches. I love that they pulled the history of the building into the decor.
I didn’t take many pictures of our actual dinner because all I had was my phone, but it was so amazing. We couldn’t decide what to start with, so we ordered both the Blue Cheese House Cut Potato Chips and Cast Iron Roasted Mussels. Both were phenomenal. We seriously cleaned up on those mussels, and made a pretty good dent in the potato chips. We are both blue cheese lovers, so they were a little bit of heaven.
I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops and my husband ordered a duck special. Both were amazing – those scallops were so sweet and tender and cooked perfectly. But my husband’s duck entree? I would order it again in a heartbeat.
Needless to say, we left with very full bellies. It was an amazing meal and we would both go back.
Bambara is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So whether you find yourself in Salt Lake City for business or pleasure, Bambara is a restaurant you definitely should check out.

That looks like a wonderful restaurant! I would love the scallops and the duck. I don’t eat out often because it seems like it’s always disappointing. This place certainly does not look disappointing in the slightest.
