Deer Valley Grocery Cafe – at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. The perfect spot for breakfast before a big ski day!
If I had to choose one meal a day to eat, my favorite would be breakfast or brunch. Which is funny, because on a normal day at home, breakfast is probably the most boring meal of the day. But when I’m traveling, or when it’s time for a special treat, breakfast is where it’s at.
So when my husband and I went up to Deer Valley Resort for a night last November, I immediately started looking up places to go for breakfast. It was a super short trip – we had to be home as early as possible to celebrate our youngest son’s birthday. So I wasn’t even sure we’d have time to fit breakfast in. Because when you have a morning without kids that like to wake up at 5am, all you want to do is sleep in!
So instead of driving into the city for breakfast, we decided to keep it simple and stay at Deer Valley and head to the Grocery Cafe for breakfast. And I know we made the right decision!!
A few months back, I went do a dinner out on the deck at the grocery cafe. The food was amazing (it always is at Deer Valley!!) But I had heard so much about their breakfast, so I was excited to go. Since we were there a couple of weeks before the ski season opened, it was very quiet (which we will never complain about!) But the food was still Deer Valley quality – delicious!!
The name is a bit misleading – as it is mostly a cafe, with a few grocery items that you can purchase. But while you can eat at the cafe, there is also plenty of food that you can take with you as well (hello pizza and pastries!!)
We, of course, had a hard time deciding what to order but settled on scrambled eggs with cheddar and chives, Niman ranch sausage and toast (him) and a skillet fried Dutch baby pancake (her). We also couldn’t pass up a croissant that was stuffed with ham and cheese that we shared.
The service was friendly, the food was delicious and fresh. (I’m still thinking about that Dutch baby pancake months later!) I think that Deer Valley Grocery Cafe was the perfect place to stop to end our little anniversary getaway!
Breakfast Plate – scrambled eggs with Cabot white cheddar and chive, Niman Ranch sausage and housemade challah toast
Fresh croissant filled with ham and cheese
Skillet Fried Dutch Baby Pancake – lemon ricotta pancake, blueberries, raspberries, orange vanilla bean butter, powdered sugar and served with a side of syrup.

Being from the south, I’m not much of a skier, but we have visited ski resorts in the spring and have always had a wonderful time. I’ve heard so many people talk about Deer Valley. I’ll have to add it to our travel bucket list!
