A couple of weeks ago, I was randomly on Facebook and I saw something about a Crawfish Festival. Intrigued, I did a little bit of digging, and found out about the 2nd Annual Crawfish Festival at the Homestead Resort in Midway, UT. Since Midway is less than an hour from where I live, I immediately texted my husband at work to tell him that we needed to go. I think he was as excited as I was!
Neither of us had ever had crawfish before, but it was one of those things that was on both of our bucket lists. After reading about the festival on their website, I reserved our tickets and we planned our afternoon.
The weather was perfect, and we could already smell the food cooking when we got there. We arrived right around the time that the festival was supposed to start, but the food wasn’t ready yet so we walked around and checked out what they had going on. There was a live band playing jazz music, and a canoe full of live crawfish. We were transported to New Orleans for the afternoon!!
I was able to taste my first alligator tail as we waited for the food. And it was fun to watch as chicken and stuffed jalapenos were being cooked over fire on the grills.
What I loved: the food really was good. The chicken – amazing. Probably some of the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. And the jalapenos stuffed with shrimp and crab and then wrapped in bacon and grilled – phenomenal. The crawfish was good, too, but man – that is a lot of work for not a whole lot of meat! But it was fun to finally experience eating crawfish. The only downfalls to the day were that there was supposed to be crab served as well, but only the first people in line were able to get any. It was gone very quickly. And the line was very slow going to get your food. But those were the only complaints of the day for me!!
It was such a fun afternoon filled with lots of great food. I’d definitely want to go back again next year!
