Description

A super easy summer dessert, these Grilled Chocolate Sandwiches are made with pound cake, cherry preserves, and chocolate.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 12 1/2-inch-thick slices of challah, brioche or pound cake (I used pound cake)
  • 3 tablespoons Bing cherry preserves
  • Two 4ounce good-quality bittersweet chocolate bars, each cut into thirds (I used milk chocolate, because that’s what sounded good to me that day!)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • confectioners’ sugar, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill, griddle or nonstick grill pan to medium-low.
  2. Lay the bread or cake slices on a work surface. Brush each of 6 slices with 1/2 tablespoon of the cherry preserves.
  3. Top each brushed slice with 1 piece of the chocolate.
  4. Top with the remaining bread or cake slices.
  5. Brush the melted butter on both sides of each sandwich, and grill the sandwiches until the chocolate has melted and the bread is crisp and golden brown – 2 to 4 minutes per side.
  6. Cut the sandwiches in half or in quarters, dust with confectioners’ sugar, and serve warm.
