Wow – it’s already the end of February. Which means it’s time for a new Cookbook of the Month. But first, a quick review of February’s book – Weight Watcher’s New Complete Cookbook.

I mentioned before that this was not a new cookbook to my collection, but with the birth of my daughter, I didn’t make it out to buy a new cookbook. So I decided to use this one while flipping through the pages one day and bookmarking many of the recipes. I’d have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with this cookbook. Although I don’t follow the Weight Watcher’s “diet”, I think that I easily could because this food was quite delicious. Not everything was a home run, but nothing was what I would consider bad. I had made a few recipes from this book before, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be making more!

February’s recipes:

Slow-Cook Tuscan Sausage and Bean Soup – 4.5 out of 5
Pumpkin-Apple Bread – 2.5 out of 5
Lemon-Butter Broccoli – 5 out of 5
Honey Mustard Pork Chops – 4 out of 5

Average Rating: 4 out of 5

For March, the Cookbook of the Month will be Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food: Great Food Fast. I’m excited for this new cookbook. I went through it and bookmarked recipes already. I thought I was being picky, but ended up marking over 30 recipes that I want to try. I know many of you have this cookbook, so if you have any suggestions or requests, I’d love to hear them!

I enjoy both of those books! I really like how you summarized/ranked your recipe choices at the end. Looking forward to what you make out of Martha’s book! 🙂

If the pork and broccoli you posted about are any indication of the caliber of the cookbook, this one is definitely worth buying! Thanks for the review. Can’t wait to see what you think about Everyday Food…I love it!

Oh, I have that cookbook. When I first got it I drooled over all the yummy recipes then I did my usual and printed recipes off the internet to make for dinner. Can wait to see what you make.

I don’t think I’ve made a dish I didn’t like out of the Everyday Food Book. Very easy stuff to make. Loved the Shrimp Pad Thai, Roasted Cornish Game Hens w/Grapes, Herb-Crusted Snapper and Skirt Steak with Spicy Green Salsa. It’s probably my favorite time saving cookbook.

I’ve only made the Glazed Lemon Cakes (I love desserts). I get the monthly Everyday Food so I tend to make more from them. Bought this because I didn’t initially
subscribe. The recipes are seasonal, easy for the novice cook, and vary in tastes. Looking forward to this month!

I have the WeightWatchers one reserved at the library. I don’t normally like their recipes, though. I’ll have to try your suggestions.
