I knew this cookbook was going to be a good one when I went to buy a copy of it and couldn’t find one anywhere. Everywhere online was sold out, as well as many of my local bookstores. I finally found one lonely copy – thank goodness! So it’s obviously popular. And you may be wondering why I chose this book – when clearly it was written with men in mind. Well, these recipes aren’t just for men!! This is a very basic, beginners cookbook that I’m sure the target audience is people who don’t cook very much – if at all. The recipes really are very basic and simple, but that is what drew me into it. I love the basics, and when you get a basic right, it’s a very good thing!!

Both prep times and cook times! Yay!!
Number of Photos: none
There are a few drawings, which are quite helpful – like how to carve a turkey or different cuts of meats. But no actual photos.

This is the perfect cookbook for a novice cook! I really think that anyone could cook from this cookbook.

Next month, we are in for a sweet treat – Desserts 4 Today by Abby Dodge. Just imagine – dessert with 4 ingredients or less! I’m so excited to dive right into this cookbook. I’ve been browsing through it, and I’m so impressed with how many desserts can be made with so few ingredients! Stay tuned on Friday for the first recipe!

This does sound like a great book. I too like the basics. I might need to pick this up for my 20 year old son.
This is actually one of my favorite cookbooks also and I love that even though the recipes are simple…they're also delicious. Then again, I would trust Susan with my kitchen any day. Great review!
I have heard several food bloggers say very good things about this cookbook. I love simple, basic, go-to recipes. Sounds like a winner.

I'm so glad to hear that you liked this book! I have been wanting to get it for my brother-in-law (who is afraid of the kitchen) and after your ringing endorsement, I have to track it down. Thank you for sharing!
I've not heard of this book before, but will keep an eye out for it.
