I knew this cookbook was going to be a good one when I went to buy a copy of it and couldn’t find one anywhere.  Everywhere online was sold out, as well as many of my local bookstores.  I finally found one lonely copy – thank goodness!  So it’s obviously popular.  And you may be wondering why I chose this book – when clearly it was written with men in mind.  Well, these recipes aren’t just for men!!  This is a very basic, beginners cookbook that I’m sure the target audience is people who don’t cook very much – if at all.  The recipes really are very basic and simple, but that is what drew me into it.  I love the basics, and when you get a basic right, it’s a very good thing!!

Cooking Times Listed in Recipes: yes
Both prep times and cook times!  Yay!!

Number of Photos: none
There are a few drawings, which are quite helpful – like how to carve a turkey or different cuts of meats.  But no actual photos.

Difficulty Level of Recipes: easy
This is the perfect cookbook for a novice cook!  I really think that anyone could cook from this cookbook.

Availability of Ingredients: easy
Any neighborhood grocery store should carry all of these ingredients.

Breakfast Burritos – 8 out of 10

Baja Fish Tacos – 8 out of 10

No Bake Cheesecake – 9 out of 10

Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf – 9 out of 10

Overall Rating:  8.5 out of 10
In all honesty – this has been one of my favorite cookbooks in awhile.  Like I said before, the recipes are mostly very basic.  Basic ways to cook pasta, or fish, or meat.  But everything is done right.  I was so impressed by the recipes that I made, and I really want to go back for more.  And don’t let the title of the book trick you – I think this would be the perfect gift to give anyone who is graduating from high school and is going away on their own for the first time.  Or for a newlywed.  Anyone who doesn’t normally cook, but would like some basic, easy instructions – they will be more than happy with this book.  Hey – I even loved it and I cook all the time!!  I don’t think you could go wrong with this cookbook!
Next month, we are in for a sweet treat – Desserts 4 Today by Abby Dodge.   Just imagine – dessert with 4 ingredients or less!  I’m so excited to dive right into this cookbook.  I’ve been browsing through it, and I’m so impressed with how many desserts can be made with so few ingredients!  Stay tuned on Friday for the first recipe!
