What a great surprise this cookbook was!!  I have to admit – I was a little skeptical of a cookbook full of recipes with only 4 ingredients.  But I loved every single recipe that I made.  And I won’t be surprised to find myself cooking through this book in the months to come – I have so many of the recipes bookmarked that I want to try!!

Cooking Times Listed in Recipes: no

(I should explain on this one – it seems to be causing a bit of confusion.  The recipes say how long to cook the individual recipes, but no “total time” to complete the recipe is listed at the beginning of the recipe.)  No cooking times listed, but from what I can tell by skimming through most of the recipes, most of them can be done in under 30 minutes (with exception to the Frozen Desserts chapter).

Number of Photos: lots

Not a picture of every finished dish, but probably one for every third recipe.  The photography is just gorgeous, and I love that the pictures are full page photos.

Difficulty Level of Recipes: easy
Super easy and super fast.  These are the perfect recipes for those that love to bake and for those that hate to bake!

Availability of Ingredients:easy
With only 4 ingredients in each recipe, you are bound to be able to find all the ingredients at any grocery store.

Nutella Fudge Brownies – 9 out of 10

Coconut Creme Caramel – 9 out of 10

Banana-Brown Sugar Pie Pockets – 8 out of 10

Honey-Glazed Roasted Pears – 8.5 out of 10

Overall Rating:  8.625 out of 10

There are so many reasons that I loved this cookbook.  First, being in the last month of my pregnancy, everything was so easy that even a 9-month pregnant woman could make them with ease!!  Of course, the fact that only 4 ingredients are involved is also a huge plus.  I also loved that the recipes don’t make a ton – they are all smaller servings – most serving just 4-6 people.  It’s hard for me, with such a small household, to make recipes that feed an army, so this was a welcome change.  I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety of recipes in the book.  And, each recipe contains suggestions of ways to change it up, or things you could add in.  You could find something for everyone in this book!

Next month, we are going from recipes with only 4 ingredients, to meals that cost only $5!  I’m super excited for the family friendly – and budget friendly! – recipes that are to come!

The desserts you've made look wonderful, but I can't believe no "times" are written. How did you decide how long to bake the brownies?
